Development and Grant Specialist

Detroit Regional Dollars for Scholars (DRDFS) is currently seeking a full-time, highly organized, and self-motivated Development and Grant Specialist.
This individual will be working with the Director of Communications & Development and the DRDFS leadership team.
In this role, you'll build relationships with foundations, write grants, and assist with development activities and fundraising events.
The ideal candidate is professional and capable of managing their workload in a fast-paced non-profit environment.
In this role, the Development & Grant Specialist will gain a wide breadth of knowledge and experience within our non-profit organization, with opportunities to connect with dedicated staff, board members, students, and supporters all while playing an integral role in achieving our mission of empowering and supporting students to achieve post-secondary success.
This is a full-time, in-person position based in Plymouth, MI.
ResponsibilitiesAcquire and maintain knowledge and understanding of DRDFS by learning about and participating in program events and activities and use that knowledge and understanding to seek aligned foundations, donors and sponsors.
Develop and nurture relationships with potential foundations, organizations, and donors to promote awareness of the DRDFS, its mission, and how to support DRDFS.
Research foundation and grant opportunities, and develop positive relationships with foundations, government entities, private grantors and agencies.
Write and submit applications for new or renewed grants, respond to inquiries from grant sources, and manage reporting requirements for awarded grants with support as needed.
Assist with development activities and execution of fundraising events and campaigns.
Assist with capturing donor data and generating donor reports from the donor database.
Additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's Degree Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A minimum of 2 years' experience in grant writing, including the identification, research, writing, cultivation and management of foundations and grants.
Ability to work in a deadline driven environment and to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and independent projects simultaneously in a timely manner.
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a successful team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience with donor management software (Little Green Light preferred).
Ability to learn and adapt to new software and applications.
Desire to empower and support students to achieve post-secondary success.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
